At least 6 hours of sunlight daily 

Low amount of water

The young plants need watering regularly until they are well established

The older plants are very drought tolerant and don't need a lot of watering

 

Plant in a container that is at least 8 inches deep and wide; larger is better

Space the lavenders 24-36 inches apart, and sow the seeds 1/2 inch deep

Healthy Lavender plants will be pest-free. Caterpillars will sometimes attack weak plants
 
Harvest Lavender flowers as they begin to open. Harvest flowers for drying before midday; that's when the oils are most concentrated 
 
Lavenders are often used symbolically to represent purity, devotion, serenity, grace, and calmness 
Lavender helps to calm the nerves, reduce anxiety and improve sleep
